The Gospel of John 39 Lord the one You love is sick. 4 When Jesus heard it He said This sickness will not end in death but is for the glory of God so that the Son of God may be glorified through it. 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when He heard that he was sick He stayed two more days in the place where He was. 7 Then after this He said to the disciples Lets go to Judea again. 8 Rabbi the disciples told Him the Judeans were just now trying to stone You and are You going there again 9 Jesus answered Arent there 12 hours in a day If anyone walks during the day he doesnt stumble because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if anyone walks during the night he does stumble because the light is not in him. 11 He said these things and after that He told them Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep but I am on My way to wake him up. 12 Then His disciples said Lord if he has fallen asleep he will get well. 13 Jesus however had been speaking of his death but they thought He was speaking about natural sleep. 14 So Jesus then told them plainly Lazarus has died 15 and Im glad for your sakes that I wasnt there so that you may believe. But lets go to him. 16 Then Thomas called Twin said to his fellow disciples Let us go too so that we may die with Him. The Resurrection and the Life 17 So when Jesus came He found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem about two miles away. 19 And many of the Jews had come to the women around Martha and Mary in order to comfort them about their brother. 20 So as soon as Martha heard that Jesus was coming she went to meet Him but Mary remained sitting in the house. 21 Then Martha said to Jesus Lord if You had been here my brother wouldnt have died. 22 But even now I know that God will give You whatever You ask God for.
